The Continuation.

The Continuation - Part 1

I have been (gently) reminded that I haven't posted anything since the tournament in Brampton.

To be truthful, I need time to sort my thoughts and try to make sense of the things that have gone on in the last little while.

So, I will start here and continue... hence the title. This will be a work in progress until our season is officially finished. It is meant to be a blow by blow, unvarnished account of what is going to happen.

We fought hard in the Brampton tournament but, like most times this season we seem to come up short at the worst possible time. As the goal entered the net in the second round of shoot-outs, I stood at the gate and couldn't help but think... too little, too late. I felt bad for the Boss, our goalie who battled valiantly until we could come back, only to have a team sport reduced to an individual game of - who blinks first.

Now we have to find a way to regroup and move forward for the biggest stage in the female game, the Provincials starting next Friday.

Rather than dwell on the past, I will attempt to log our progress game by game over the next little while.

OWHA Provincials - 2008
Friday April 11, 2008 - The Journey Continues

The excitement of the games on Friday was matched by the enthusiasm of our players.

We trailed in both games on the first day of the Round-Robin portion. Our opponents were full marks for giving us all we could handle.

In the first game we dominated Rideau-St. Lawrence for long stretches but, the goaltender stood on her head and kept the Storm off the scoreboard. We entered the third period down by one goal.

Testament to this team, they never lost their focus and didn't stray from the ultimate game plan. We had to make a couple of adjustments on our attack and the players made this happen and we scored two goals in the third to take the game.

A confidence builder to be sure and also a lesson that we need to be at the top of our game all the time to have any success.

Final: Storm 2 - Thunder -1
