So with the danger of letting people know that sometimes I am left feeling like the season never ends - one year blends with a heavy sigh into another, after the try-outs it truly felt like that.
Disappointment in the eventual outcome of the season and how it ended, is a hard thing to shrug off. It has taken me these weeks since - even the first team get-together to get my head around doing all of this again.
That is, of course until I get around the team and feel the energy. It's like when C. Montgomery Burns got the blood transfusion from Bart... "Smither's... I'm in the pink again - full of piss an vinegar!"
I am in the process of putting the final touches on our Summer Training-Team Building Camp in August and the momentum is starting to take over. If I learned nothing from the past few seasons, and there are those that will argue that is precisely the case, I am aware of the fact that the program we run can be overwhelming for the players just joining the team. Add to the fact that some of these girls are coming from various hockey development backgrounds and levels of coaching, I need to temper my enthusiasm with what is right and will not shock the system. In other words.. less is more.
Finding the balance between physical development and social interaction will help the younger players mature faster and become important members of our family.
We look to have the same support from the families as last season and with that we can put the blocks in place for team and move things forward smoothly.
I will be posting daily comments from the camp along with the progression and success of some of the new elements I am implementing into the program this year. I will also be posting photos with comments to illustrate the events.
Until then... keep yer stick on the ice.

Something Extra: A Great Surprise!
This video kind of captures some of the fun the girls had last year. Excellent job girls. Next time - leave me out of it, please...
